Global Applications of UTC Aerospace ISR Systems

Aerial imaging systems have been used for a variety of applications since photography came into being in the 1800’s. The First World War saw the first widespread use of aerial photography for military reconnaissance missions. Today, ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) is a critical military asset used in theaters worldwide to counter the varied threats that exist across the globe.
UTC Aerospace ISR Systems (Westford, MA), the former Itek Optical Systems, has been at the forefront of space-borne and airborne ISR systems for more than a half century. The United States and more than a dozen countries use reconnaissance systems designed and manufactured at ISR Systems. The presentation will describe the operational employment of these systems in global environments and illustrate how imagery is used for both military and civilian applications.

Larry Maver, UTC Aerospace Systems
Larry Maver is Director of Business Development Goodrich UTAS ISR Systems. Mr. Maver has worked in the Reconnaissance business for over 30 years, beginning with Itek Optical Systems in 1978. Mr. Maver’s degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master of Science in Image Science from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Mr. Maver has led numerous engineering activities in spaceborne and airborne reconnaissance systems. He was a principal investigator in the development of the U.S. Government’s National Imagery Interpretability Rating Scales (NIIRS) and also produced the verification standards used in the Open Skies Treaty. Mr. Maver was a Senior Technical Fellow at Hughes Aircraft and Raytheon Corporation.
At UTAS, he is responsible for the company’s tactical reconnaissance business development in the international and domestic U.S. markets.

Cancellations and No-shows:
If the meeting must be canceled for any reason, we will try to call you at the phone number you leave with your reservation. Official notice of cancellation will be on our answering machine.
We have to pay for the dinners reserved as of the Tuesday before the meeting, so no-shows eat into our cash reserve. If you will not be able to attend, please let us know as early as possible. Otherwise, no-shows will be billed.
